Head-On Train Crash in Denmark Injures Multiple People, Some Critically

(MENAFN) At least four people are in critical condition after two trains collided on Thursday in Denmark, according to reports from emergency and police officials.

The crash occurred on the Gribskov Railway in North Zealand, near Kagerup, earlier in the morning when the two trains reportedly collided head-on, as stated by reports from Danish media.

Authorities said emergency services were quickly deployed to the scene, with around 60 responders involved in ongoing rescue operations.

Regional health officials confirmed that at least four people sustained life-threatening injuries, while several others were also hurt in the incident.

Emergency services said all injured passengers were evacuated from the site by ambulance and helicopter. Those who were not physically injured were gathered at a designated assembly point.

Local officials reported that some of the most seriously injured individuals were transported by air to Rigshospitalet hospital.

The mayor of the Gribskov area described being deeply shocked by the incident, noting that the railway line is commonly used by residents, workers, and schoolchildren, and said authorities are working to support those affected.

Police said they have established an overview of the situation, but rescue operations are still ongoing as investigations continue into the cause of the collision.
